Midnight Dreams

It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -Carl Sagan

Times change, worlds change, but people, people never change.
What had started as an arduous project is now one of my passions. I love to write; this is where I try to paint pictures--with words. I'm a sophomore in high school, if you're wondering.

Need to contact me for some reason? My email is dsrandhawa3244@gmail.com.

I'm going to be uploading my own little things in groups, so I don't have a million small posts.

Life Redux

Life is a poem that I did far back, last year, if you look into the older things I've written. I didn't like the final product, so I re-wrote it.

Life is to live.
Life is to love.
Life is to die.
There will be hard times,
and even harder times than that.
But we will live on.
We will cry,
with both sadness, and joy.
But we will live on.
The old man, slowly walking.
Taking in the world around him.
His pains, his loves, his short comings.
He lives on.
As will we.

Moment

Moment was literally a "in the moment" poem. That's all I have to say about it.

Remember the past.
My failures.
My victories.
My loss.
My gain.
Live in the moment.
My happiness.
My sadness.
My pain.
My love.
Hope for the future.
My hopes.
My struggles.
My strengths.
My weaknesses.
Because we all remember the past, live in the moment, and hope for the future.
And because we are who we are.

Untitled 2

Untitled 2, is again, another thought provoking (hopefully) piece of mine.

Never average
Never normal
Never the same
Never.
Every event we live through
and die through
Shapes us.
Until we are so strong that we change those around us
or we've taken so many blows that we simply
Fall apart.
And everyone we change
Remembers
Forgets
Loves
Hates.
They all want to stay the same.
No change.
No adventure.
"Adventure does nothing."
They were wrong.
I am not afraid.

Well, that's it for now. I'm currently working on a piece, titled "Reach For Glory". I've been working on it for a while, as it's the defining piece of my blog. Also, as we do more prompts in English, I'll post those as well.

Dilpreet, I think you may want to start reading some classic poets. When you start to digest their works, you will find new directions to take. I have a few I could recommend right away, especially seeing the style that you are using now, so let me know if you'd like that. Meanwhile, thanks. Your style is definitely apparent, and works well for you.

I think your poems are great and thought provoking. I like in "Untitled 2" how you describe how events can break us or make us stronger. I think I'll write a responding poem to it on my blog. Btw, what kind of glory are you reaching for? (from the title of your blog)

I lvoe how all the poems aren't just about one thing (a dog), but things that go on in people's lives. It speaks to them in a way it doesn't to anyone else, because they bring up those memories, pains, and loves. I think I'll try doing that on my peotry blog. Anyway, your poems are really great, and a big inspiration for me!

Mr Johnson, I'd definitely like that. You can either post those poets on here, or email them to me.

Jacob, the day I came up with my blog name, I decided I'd eventually do a piece with the same title as it. When I thought up the name, "Reach For Glory", I thought of how many people simply want acknowledgement, and that's all they're happy with. Meanwhile, there are those who go above and beyond, in everything they do. in essence, an overachiever. Also, I'd like to see that response, and I think it's a cool idea to have poems that go together. Great idea!

Kelsey, thanks a lot. It does take a while to get in depth with writing poetry and such (at least, it did for me), so conveying thoughts takes a bit. But your pieces are getting there, and thanks for the compliments.

Dilpreet.
These really make me think! Good job. Posting on the blog again really makes me think of how much I miss this kind of writing.
