Midnight Dreams

It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -Carl Sagan

What had started as an arduous project is now one of my passions. I love to write; this is where I try to paint pictures--with words. I'm a sophomore in high school, if you're wondering.

I forgot one entry, whoops.

The Box in which we Are.

Convention.
Periodic.
The Box.
Taught to Be inside of it.
Told to Think outside of it.
And in the end, to Realize.
There is no Box.
There is no empty thing.
There is only one thing.
Innovation, locked awy in the box

I agree with you, teachers do tell us to think inside the box if you read between the lines. This is what Mr. J first taught, or untaught, us at the beginning of the year. I really like this piece!

Wow, that's how I decided to write this. I remember a long while back he taught(or untaught) the same thing. What a coincidence, and thank you.

Thank you. This is a problem we face wherever we go. Sometimes it gets harder, depending where we are. And your poem is quite right; there is no box, but as Plato put in the allegory of the cave, it is as if one emerges from the darkness to finally see what really is. Do you want some suggested poets to read?
