Midnight Dreams

It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -Carl Sagan

Red and Orange

Walking along, when I notice an old, worn gate.
Opening it.
Going through it.
Noticing the beautiful treeline within,
Rows upon rows of nothing but trees,
All along the sides of a single, wide path.
Red and orange leaves, all falling,
Slowly.
Noticing a small bench nearby.
Sitting, one word in mind.
Perfect.
Far off, the sun falls like the leaves.
Slowly.
Creating something close to a paradise.
Quiet, and calm.
Wishing I could never leave.
I get up from the bench, sadly.
Back to the gate.
Going back through it.
Walking on.

THIS MAKES ME HAPPY, 'nuff said!

it actually kinda reminds me of a dream i had.

hey dilpreet, nice post. I like how descriptive it is, you've come a long way from last year. Either that or I've just gotte worse since lat year. Or both

Nice. Take out the word perfect, and paradise to let the reader feel those ideas you already embedded so well in the poem. I was with you. You don't need to state that part. That's how poetry works; you don't tell the reader the conclusion. Instead, let them draw it for themselves.

That was really teacher-ish. Sorry.

well. i'm a sucker for imagery and beauty, etc. so i'm not the best poetry critic. and contrary to my first comment, this piece actually provokes multiple emotions of a broad spectrum ranging from that pure, simple happiness to nostalgia to worthlessness. and it draws memories yet also allows the reader to see through a different perspective.

like i said, i don't know a lot about poetry other than its graceful play on words butttt i'm pretty convinced that triggering all those emotions and views is an accomplishment.
